Route 66 Road Trip to Santa Fe

A 7 day trip exploring the old Route 66 sites coming and going to Santa Fe, NM.
Day 1 Glendora, CA to Williams, AZ
Most of our driving was on Interstate 40 which parallels the Old Route 66. We stopped in Kingman, AZ for lunch. Williams, AZ, our overnight stop, is known as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon because it has a rail line that goes to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The town is filled with old memorabilia from the 50s and 60s.
Gas prices were very low in Arizona and New Mexico
Day 2 Williams, AZ to Gallup, NM
On our second day we stopped by the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, AZ before driving through the Petrified Forest National Park. The park has fossils from 225 million years ago with many mineralized or petrified logs, petroglyphs, and archeological sites of Native Americans .
